Avoid Being Pulled Over/Convicted of a DUI

The most obvious tip to avoid being prosecuted for driving under the influence in Kentucky is the most simple: Don't do it. Here are a few suggestions to help you.

  • If you’re going to drink while you're out, make sure to have a designated driver with you.

  • Put the numbers for several taxi services in your phone’s contact list for easy access, and plan ahead to leave your car and take a taxi. Making this decision sober is a lot easier than making it after a few, or several, drinks. It’s a lot less expensive to take a taxi than it is to deal with the consequences of a DUI.

  • Know your limits. Having a glass of wine at dinner might not send you to jail; having a bottle, however, probably will. Play around with a BAC calculator to get an idea of what you can legally handle.
