Ideas for Change

Your work for drug policy reform makes a difference -- and you're not alone. Together we are a part of a growing movement, with millions of other Americans who care about this issue.

Right now you can make your voice heard by signing into Change.org and voting for ending the drug war, promoting marijuana policy reform and decriminalizing hemp.

As a drug policy reformer, you're in great company. Change.org is the central website for informing and empowering movements for social change in the United States, and drug policy reform ideas have already been voted to the top of their priority list.

On January 16, Change.org and the Case Foundation will host an event at the National Press Club to announce the top 10 rated ideas and then launch a campaign behind each idea, to ensure that each winning idea gets the full consideration of the Obama administration and Members of Congress.

Voting closes next Thursday at 5:00 PM, so be sure to act now and join the groundswell of Americans supporting a change in the direction of our country's failed drug policies. This is your chance to join together and celebrate the success we've had as a movement.

Learn More About Change.org's Ideas for Change in America

In the wake of the 2008 Presidential election, this citizen-driven project was created to identify and create momentum around the best ideas for how the Obama administration and 111th Congress can turn the broad call for "change" across the country into specific policies.

Ideas for Change in America is a project of Change.org, an online community and media network for social issues, in partnership with more than 50 leading organizations. Change.org aims to help people who care about working for change find information and opportunities to translate their interest into effective action by serving as the central platform informing and empowering movements for social change around the most important issues of our time.

From November 24 - December 31, 2008, Change.org accepted more than 7,783 submissions for ideas and over 288,694 votes from people across America. The second and final voting round runs until January 15.

On January 16, Change.org and the Case Foundation are co-hosting an event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to announce the top 10 rated ideas (and right now two of these are drug policy related!) and then launch a national campaign behind each idea to mobilize the collective energy of the millions of members of Change.org, MySpace and partner organizations. This effort will ensure that each winning idea gets the full consideration of the Obama administration and Members of Congress.
