Yes. Based on 2010 information on people 12 and older from the National Survey on Drug Use, illicit drug use was 11% in the West, 9.4% in the Northeast, 8.2% in the Midwest and 7.8% in the South.

The rate of past month alcohol use was 57.8% in the Northeast, 54.7% in the Midwest, 51% in the West, and 47.5% in the South.

In general, smaller more rural communities have higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse.
