National Survey on Drug Use, it is highest in the West at 11%, 9.4% in the

The rate of past month alcohol use was 57.8% in the Northeast, 54.7% in the
Midwest, 51% in the West, and 47.5% in the South.
Generally, small rural areas have higher rates of alcohol abuse.
