Because of the high number of DWI cases in New Mexico every year (plus the number of repeat offenders), New Mexico law enforcement is really cracking down on this problem. Penalties are often more severe in New Mexico than in other states, including mandatory penalties that even the most lenient judge can’t get you out of. Some of these mandatory penalties include:

  • Up to 2 years in prison
  • Up to $5000 in fines
  • Community service, up to 96 hours
  • License reinstatement fee of $100
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Driver education courses
  • Ignition interlock devices
  • Court fees
If you’re a repeat offender, you can expect to receive the maximum penalties allowed since repeat offenders are much more likely to break the law again. In New Mexico, a fourth DWI is now a felony as well.

Prevention Through Education

New Mexico takes DWI charges incredibly seriously. In fact, they have even enlisted a program in which any driver between the ages of 18 and 24 must complete a DWI awareness program, called “None for the Road,” when applying for a license. This program is testament to the state’s continued effort to educate its residents first in order to avoid driving intoxicated in the first place.

While we have participants taking our programs throughout many counties and cities in the state of New Mexico. Some of the most common areas include: Alamogordo, Albuqerque, Albuquerque, Dixon, Eagle Nest, Gallup, Hobbs, Holloman AFB, Jemez Springs, Las Cruces, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Portales, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe.
