Tips to Avoid Consequences From Driving Under the Influence

The most obvious tip to avoid the consequences of driving under the influence is also the most simple: Don't Drink (or do drugs) and Drive.

But bars and restuarants are packed with people drinking, and everyone has to get home at some point.

  • Choose a designated driver if you’re going out drinking
  • Save the numbers to a few Taxi cab services in your phone
  • Plan ahead. The more you drink, the more you may seem to think you’re fine to drive. Decide ahead of time that you’ll be taking a taxi or using a designated driver. Better yet, take a taxi both ways to avoid the temptation. A taxi is much more affordable than a DUI, and MUCH more affordable than hurting yourself or someone else.
  • Know your limits. Having a glass of wine at dinner might not send you to jail; having a bottle, however, probably will. Play around with a BAC Calculator to get an idea of what you can legally handle.
  • Teens: If you drink while you’re out at a club or party, call your parents! The trouble you’ll get in at home will never compare the trouble you’ll get in as a minor under the influence, especially if you get behind the wheel.
