In Lodi, California, according to police, 478 vehicles were stopped resulting in the arrest of three DUI suspects and three arrests for outstanding warrants.
Police said this was one of many checkpoints that have been conducted in Lodi and that more are set to be conducted throughout the year.The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
DUI's make up one of the most common reasons people take
alcohol awareness classes and
minor in possession classes. Typical first time offenders will be asked to take these classes as a form of diversion in lue of jail time or as part of a plea bargin. These classes will help the participant learn skills to better understand the impact alcohol and drugs have on the themselves and others.
